New Delhi: Today, a passenger bus in Nepal crashed into a river, resulting in at least 14 Indian fatalities and 17 injuries. roughly 40 people were on board the Indian-registered bus when it crashed into the Marsyangdi River in the Tanahun district, roughly 110 kilometers from its intended destination in the capital, Kathmandu.
14 Awakened, Taken To Intensive Care
The bus drove off the roadway and into a river that was running quickly, halting on the rocky side, according to an AP story. The bus’s top had been torn off, but the debris did not fall into the Marsyangdi River, it was stated.
According to the AP story, 14 individuals were taken unconscious from the bus and taken to adjacent hospitals.
The bus, which was around 110 kilometers from its destination in Kathmandu and carrying about 40 people, fell into the Marsyangdi River in the Tanahun district.
The bus, according to an official, was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
A senior police officer informed the news outlet ANI, “The bus with the number plate UP (Uttar Pradesh) FT 7623 plunged into the river and is lying on the river’s bank.”
At least five Indians were killed last month when a terrible avalanche in Nepal’s Chitwan province washed two buses into the Trishuli River.
On July 12, two buses carrying 65 passengers—seven of them were Indian—were carried away by a landslide that happened in the Simaltal region along the Narayanghat-Mugling route in the Chitwan district as a result of heavy rains. Shortly after the tragedy, three people swam to safety.
Two Indian people are still missing, while the bodies of five have already been found.
Approximately 103 kilometers downstream from the event location, along the banks of the Narayani River and near the Triveni Dam, are where the search teams have located 25 dead so far. However, just 19 of the remains discovered downstream have been positively identified as belonging to the incident’s missing people.
Bus Likely From Uttar Pradesh
According to DSP Deepkumar Raya of the District Police Office Tanahun, “the bus with the number plate UP FT 7623 fell into the river and is lying on the riverbank.” This was reported to ANI.
The Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner, meantime, informed ANI that they are attempting to get in touch in order to determine whether or not there was an Uttar Pradeshi passenger aboard the vehicle.
Rescue Activities Are In Progress
According to the PTI report, a group of forty-five members of the Armed Police Force, under the command of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Madhav Paudel, from the Armed Police Force Nepal Disaster Management Training School, have arrived on the scene to conduct the rescue effort.
According to the source, some 35 APF members from No. 23 Battalion, Bhanu, Tanahun, are also taking part in the rescue effort.
According to ANI, which cited the Army’s Communications Department, a MI-17 helicopter of the Nepal Army carrying a medical team has flown to the scene from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport.
A video of the rescue effort has been posted by ANI on the social networking platform X (previously known as Twitter). The Rastriya Samachar Samiti, a news wire service located in Nepal, released the footage.
According to ANI, 65 passengers were washed into the Trishuli River in Nepal in July of this year while riding two buses. It also stated that the buses, one Ganpati Deluxe headed for Kathmandu and one Angel bus headed for Rautahat’s Gaur, were carried away by the intense downpour.
