Directed by Siddharth P Siddharth and produced by Aditya Chopra under Y Entertainment, “Maharaj” is set in the backdrop of pre-independence India, directed by the Sutra-Church-led Maharaj Manhani Case of 1862. This historical background has given rise to controversy, with some alleging that the film may convey a religious message.

Despite its imminent release, “Maharaj” has adopted an unconventional promotional route, opting not to release a teaser or trailer but only a poster featuring actors Jaideep Ahlawat and Junaid Khan.

Outcry on social media

The reaction on social media is going on very fast. VHP leader Opera Prachi released the sequel saying, “Sanatan Dharma is not an insult to the film. Maharaj is banned.
